We enjoyed having dinner with the Carlson's and Zito's in Prime 7 last night. After dinner I went to the last half of the magician's show. He was pretty good. Rebecca did not want to be coughing during his show so went back to the suite.
What We Did Today:
Well, just when I thought this cruise segment was the cruise from hell, it got worse! As we were about to sail from Ushuaia last night, the Captain announced over the PA that due to the weather in the Falkland Islands we would not be going there. THEN he announced that something was wrong with one of the two azipods (propulsion system) and we could not make full speed. In fact, we are only doing 13 knots today instead of 20. He thinks we may have some fishing nets tangled in the propeller of the azipod. They will send divers down to check it out when we arrive in our next port now, Punta del Este, Uruguay. I think the reason we are not going to the Falklands is not weather related but due to us not being able to run at normal speed. He has to get to a port where they can fix the azipod or the we will never be able to complete this cruise without cancelling a LOT more ports. This could turn into a HUGE problem. Getting fishing nets in the azipods of the Voyager (another of Regent's 3 ships) a few years ago resulted in them cancelling cruises. So, we will see!
I went to the interdenominational church service this morning at 9:15 and then to Terry Breen's lecture on Ernest Shackleton's expedition to Antarctica back in early 1900's. I had to leave early though as it was cold in the theater. We went to the dining room, Compass Rose, for lunch as they were having one of out favorite's, salmon in pastry.
There is some good news today!! We are enjoying a very good ride (so far anyway) out here in the Atlantic Ocean. We will be at sea 3 more days after today. We are scheduled to arrive in Punta del Este, Uruguay, at 7:00 am on Thursday. It will be getting warmer as we proceed northward.
We will be having our Valentine's dinner in Compass Rose this evening. Our favorite entree is on the menu tonight, miso sea bass. They marinade it 48 hours before cooking. I will probably make a pig of myself and order two. The show tonight was to be "Gauchos Hilario & Hayley". They boarded yesterday but their luggage with costumes did not make it with them. So we not be seeing their show until they get their luggage on Thursday. Instead tonight's show will feature Marshall, the Jean Ann Ryan lead male singer. He is very good!
