Our position at 1:30 pm. Weather changes by the minute but pretty much rainy, windy, and low ceilings. Temperature 51F.
What We Did Last Night:
Our special dinner last night was a huge success. We started with cocktails in the Horizon Lounge then adjourned to Compass Rose for dinner. Rebecca and I had picked the menu items. The head sommelier, Mirjana, personally did the wine service for our table. Ivan, was our waiter as we have know him for several years now. We started with a champagne toast to cruising and making good friends. We let our guests select their white wines. Mirjana had selected a special cabernet sauvignon for us. Photos will be on link.
What We Did Today:
We were suppose to be entering a cove this morning at 7:00 to view a glacier. I set the alarm for 7:00 and asked for room service breakfast at 7:30. Well, the Captain did not stop at the glacier. Told us at noon PA update that it was too windy for the ship to enter the narrow channel. So we will not be seeing any glaciers on this cruise. I find this a little weird as we had enough time to view two glaciers while here on our 2012 cruise. The weather on this cruise has a lot to do with us missing two ports, bouncing around in the ocean for days, terrible views in fjords, and not seeing any glaciers, BUT the itinerary spent way too much time up in Caribbean seeing islands everyone has seen a thousand times and not enough time down here in South America. After all this is billed and suppose to feature South America. Comparing our 2012 cruise to this one and there is really no comparison. The 2012 cruise was MUCH better and 30% less money!
Rebecca has a cold now so she did not workout today but I did. Of course the shops on board does not have cough drops. Half the ship is coughing so what's that about?? We had some lunch up in La Veranda and this afternoon I went to a lecture by the White House military social aide, Stephen Bauer. Today he talked about the Carter administration. His talks are very interesting as he reveals some funny things that happened during his time with 5 different Presidents.
The Jean Ann Ryan production show, "Cirque Rock N Roll" is a pre-dinner show at 5:45. We'll have cocktails after that before going to Compass Rose for dinner. After dinner they are showing the latest James Bond movie, "Spectre" in the theater. I've seen it several times!
Tomorrow morning we will be docking in Punta Arenas. The link below photos will be to the photos I took of the glaciers back in 2012. At least YOU can see what the passengers on this cruise did not see.
