They changed seating configurations of our Boeing 767 so Rebecca and I were now seated on opposite sides of first class. The two folks in the center seats were nice enough to trade seats with us so we now had cozy seats next to each other.
I had not seen this new seating configuration of the 767. It is international version with seats that can lie flat. Not needed on our 2 hour flight today. So our scheduled departure time was 10:35. Well, seems the lens on the aircraft nose gear landing light was cracked. Took 1 1/2 hours to fix. This is one reason we fly to cruises 1 or 2 days in advance. So I went up to cockpit and visited with the pilots and there was a FAA inspector riding along. We had a WONDERFUL flight attendant crew taking care of us in first class. Think Rebecca and I managed to kill a bottle of chardonnay.
Love you girls! They have my blog site so hope they check in to follow us. We finally got airborne and on our way to MIA. Enroute we were served a lovely lunch, and of course, more vino.
We arrived at gate in Miami at 3:47 pm PST. (1 1/2 hours late) We had not been to the MIA airport in a long time. WOW! Has it changed. VERY nice! Took our luggage over a half hour to get to baggage claim but THEY ALL MADE IT. I worry about our luggage more than any thing. So we grabbed a taxi and headed for the Double Tree on Biscayne Bay near downtown and very close to the Port of Miami. Joseph was our driver and was from Haiti. Very nice gentleman.
I had booked a Junior Suite here but was upgraded to a one bedroom condo. As a Hilton "diamond" member I usually get upgraded. So we have bath and a half, full kitchen, washer & dryer, walk-in closet, living room, and huge balcony.
It was 5:00 pm by time we got settled into our "digs". I had done my research (thanks to Google Earth) of area around hotel and found a Publix grocery near by. So off I went to get some wine to enjoy on our balcony this evening.
In background of last photo is port where our ship will be docked on Wednesday. For dinner there was a food court like area in hotel so grabbed something for light dinner which we enjoyed back in our condo.
In summary, today was a great start to our latest adventure. Tonight we will be watching the Alabama/Clemson national championship game on TV. ROLL TIDE! (We are Alabama fans).
