Our position today at 11:00 am. It is really nice out on our balcony with a temperature of 77F. Smooth sailing again today. We are enroute to Salaverry, Peru, which is the port city for Trujillo. That's where we will be tomorrow.
What We Did Last Night:
We had a fantastic dinner in Prime 7, what Regent calls their ships' steakhouse.
Eat your heart out as this is what I had for dinner. My appetizer was fole gras sliders. Soup course was American onion soup. Salad was half of a iceberg wedge with ranch dressing. Pictured above was my entree: a 6 oz grilled filet topped with a lobster tail. Accompanying that was truffle fries and sauteed garlic spinach. To wash it down we had St Francis chardonnay and a very nice Chilean Cabernet sauvignon, which was recommended by our wine sommelier, Kas.
Yes, I had a little room for this dessert: a 14 layer chocolate cake with one scoop of chocolate ice cream. Oh, my, how did I eat all that!!
As we are at sea today, I thought I would share some photos of the Jean Ann Ryan cast members taken during two of their production shows. These young performers are very talented and take a lot of pride in doing their best in all their shows. Rebecca and I sit on the front row to support them during all their shows. We are pleased to call many of the singers and dancers on this cast and others, our friends now.
Photos of their "Cirque Rock & Roll" show.
Photos of their "Film Flashback" show last night.
This is Lauren whom we have known for a couple of years now.
Micah Horn is the lead female singer. She is a Texas girl, from Stephenville near Ft Worth.
Roman and Olga are the specialty team and are from the Ukraine. They do acrobatics and aerial feats.
Marshal Carolan is the lead male singer. Originally from Newport Beach, CA.
Oleksii and Tetyana are also from the Ukraine and are the ballroom dance team.
What We Did Today:
Room service breakfast showed up on time at 8:30 this morning. We were in no hurry as we did not want to go to the fitness center until 11:00. It is way to busy up there before then. We finished our workout at 12:15 and returned to suite to shower and get ready for lunch.
During his noon PA the Captain mentioned that there were some whales and dolphins in the area now. While waiting on Rebecca to get ready to go to lunch, I had just put my telephoto lens on camera when I looked out balcony window and saw the blow of a whale.
You can see dorsal fin on its back
It was diving and coming back to the surface pretty often so the dives were not very deep.
It is beginning its dive now as back is arched
Now the fluke (tail) is coming our of the water.
I was standing in my balcony door so got side of balcony in photo. I was afraid if I stepped further out on balcony my camera lens would fog over.
While having lunch in La Veranda, we ran into hundreds of playful dolphin.
I raced up on the top deck to get these photos. I have never seen so many dolphin.
They were jumping out of the water. Some were jumping 10 feet into the air and making big splash when the hit the water again.
What a great day this has been to see the whale and hundreds of playful dolphin. On our 2012 SA cruise we never saw either.
At lunch today they had a "seafood extravaganza" on pool deck.
Ice carving and real fish
This is one of our favorite dishes on Regent, salmon in pastry. I even now make it at home but not as good as this.
Seafood paella and grilled fresh fish
This is an interesting day. We are now passing at least 100 fishing boats about a mile off our right side.
Tonight's show in theater is Jade & Samuel's second show, "Soul Classics". We'll definitely be there for it.
