This is our position at noon today. We have a 15 knot tail wind today so the ship is going a little faster than normal. We're doing 20.2 knots. We have been getting a very nice ride ever since leaving Recife yesterday evening. It is 84F this afternoon with 80% humidity and some rain showers around us.
Sailing out of Recife yesterday at sunset.
Dusan, Restaurant Manager, and Maria serving our fried chicken last night. We also made special order for fried calamari and some French onion soup. The calamari was really good. The soup (once again) did not show up. Excuse was the chef needed 48 hours to prepare it. Today I will be asking him what about making onion soup takes that long!! I was not very happy about it last night for sure. As you may recall the last time I ordered fried chicken, all we got was 4 chicken legs for the 3 of us at our table. This time we got PLATTERS of fried chicken. It was excellent!!!
What We Did Today:
As you see above at noon today we sailed past Fortaleza. We stopped here back in 2012. Instead of stopping at South American ports, this year's itinerary is stopping at 10 (twice the number of 2012) Caribbean islands. SUCKS!
So today is a sea day as we steam full speed (20 knots) towards the Equator and the Amazon River. As you can see from this worldatlas photo, the Equator is right in the mouth of the Amazon River. You can also see that since rounding the eastern "hump" of Brazil last night, we are now heading on a more westerly course.
Did our normal routine this morning. Today's lunch featured an Italian BBQ. May watch another movie this afternoon. We watched "The Martian" the other day and thought it was very good. We opted to order a chef and Caesar salads for lunch. Some grilled shrimp on the Caesar. Rebecca had to go back to fitness center after lunch as they limited her to just 30 minutes use this morning due to treadmill demand. I got my hour in on bike and elliptical trainer.
Nothing special planned for tonight. Will be celebrating my parents 70th anniversary even though we are not with them to do it personally. What a milestone!!! We are sooooo blessed to still have them with us. I have two sisters. Kathy lives in same town as my parents. Teresa lives in Houston. Teresa and I are flying up the weekend of April 8, 9, & 10 to formally help celebrate our parent's anniversary.
At the bar last night we met tonight's performer, Samantha Ivey. She was very lovely and super nice so will be attending her show tonight. She is from the UK and sings pop, classical, and rock music. Once again we LOVED the Jean Ann Ryan cast in last night's "Film Flashback" show.
Tomorrow is another day at sea. Kind of a boring day for you so decided to add link to the photos I took during our 2012 port stop in Fortaleza. I think you will enjoy seeing them again.
